Lantra to play major role in annual pest control industry show

Hot-on-the-heels of exhibiting at Europe’s largest turf management show, Lantra is to play a major role at one of the biggest annual pest control industry events.

Just one week on after appearing at SALTEX 2022 Lantra, a leading UK training and qualifications’ Awarding organisation for the land-based sector, is set to have an exhibition stand at PestTech taking place at the Marshall Arena, in Milton Keynes, on Wednesday, November 9.

PestTech will feature more than 50 exhibitors and a full programme of presentations and seminars.

This annual gathering attracts more than 1,000 pest controllers and showcases scientific, educational and technological developments and advancements in the industry.

Entrance to the event, and parking on the day, is free and Lantra representatives will be on hand to discuss their industry recognised pest control courses and opportunities for industry professionals to potentially become Lantra Instructors, Assessors, Verifiers and Providers.

David Fisher, Lantra’s Head of Industry Partnerships for the area, said he is very much looking forward to PestTech 2022, especially so soon after attending the hugely successful two-day SALTEX show in Birmingham.

He said: “The pest control industry is facing many challenges and impending legislative changes that will need to be met – and Lantra is in place to speak to,  guide, and provide training and CPD to those who will be affected.

“Legislation, technology and science continues to change at a pace and Lantra is in close, constant contact with land-based industries to ensure our courses are fit-for-purpose and meet the needs of both employers and employees in the sector.

“Lantra is working with the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use, (CRRU), and industry partners, to help protect the health of birds of prey in response to concerns over irresponsible rodenticide users.

“Worries have been expressed over rodenticide residues that have been found in birds of prey and Lantra has responded by upgrading its rodent management training courses.

“Lantra Awards, has developed, and launched, the Ofqual-regulated ‘Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in Rodent Management’ to replace ‘Rodent Control on Farms’ and ‘Responsible and Effective Control of Commensal Rodents’ certifications. https://www.lantra.co.uk/course/lantra-awards-level-2-award-rodent-management-online

“This in-depth course provides people with a comprehensive overview of legislation governing rodent pest management, stresses the importance of, and the reasons for, rodent management and provides information on the biology and behaviour of a specific range of rodent species.

“It also emphasises the importance of understanding integrated pest management and monitoring rodent activity.

“This course strengthens the existing stewardship regime by upgrading Lantra-assessed training courses into a Level 2 Award in Rodent Management.”
