Controlling urban weeds and getting rid of invasive weeds is a necessary operation for many industries. For instance, on development and construction sites Japanese knotweed will bring any project to a halt. Landowners and estate owners have a legal obligation to control or remove certain weeds covered by legislation – such as Ragwort. Property managers are required to maintain external grounds to a high standard as part of their management fee, and councils must keep urban highways and public spaces clear. So weed management cannot be ignored and for lots of reasons.
Why Glyphosate?

Yes, changing the way herbicides are used or mixed with adjuvants is always a key factor in the efficacy of the chemical, and we’re always looking to improve on methods of delivery too. Below we share some innovative achievements made this year as we enter our 15th year of trading. We’re taking the weed control industry to a more sustainable level, which is better for our clients and better for the environment. But first, an introduction.
At Japanese Knotweed Ltd we don’t just remove knotweed. Through our Environment Controls brand we offer a wide range of specialist weed control and contaminated land removal services.
Not just knotweed! Though we started out as knotweed contractors, we now cover a vast range of other invasive plants (and species such as Oak Processionary Moth). Our surveyors are highly trained to spot these, and we can quote for everything that’s found on the same contract, which is both effective and efficient. We’re also licensed to detect asbestos in soils – which we can remove at the same time. Ultimately using one contractor for all contamination saves on time, resource management and costs.
Why is weed control such a big concern for industries?
Construction and development are big target markets for invasive weed removal, and there’s a fairly large pool of contractors to choose from. So, we asked our long-term clients why they repeatedly come back to us.

This tech and methodology has been designed especially to ensure faster and more efficient contract completion for our clients, and has the added benefits of using less chemicals, less water and is a more sustainable option.
What’s the fuss about moss?
Additionally, Moss and Algae can be a hazard risk in winter, but we’ve developed a method where both can be treated at the same time as amenity spraying for annual and perennial weeds via knapsacking. This treatment method is unique to Environment Controls and not only is it more efficient but costs less – a saving we pass on to you.
